Close your eyes. Oh, wait! You can’t close your eyes and read this at the same time. Ok. Instead, read this first and then close your eyes to enjoy whatever you feel.
How can I be in the middle of January in Duck, N. C. (yes, there is actually a Duck, N.C.) with a temperature of 60 plus degrees when it is supposed to be in the 30s? But, nevertheless, here I sit on a balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, drinking peppermint tea and feeling. Just feeling.
How many times have you done something, anything, just for you? Just. For. You. It is almost uncomfortable to even think about, isn’t it? But when the sun is showing off and sharing his simply perfect rays and the ocean blends her sea salt, the combination is almost intoxicating. The fresh cleansing smells, the warmth of the air seems like a soft, warm blanket that wraps itself around not only my body but also my heart.
Do you ever admit to yourself or to anyone for that matter, that your heart is hurt, shattered, lonely or needy?
My poor shattered heart. Do you ever admit to yourself or to anyone for that matter, that your heart is hurt, shattered, lonely or needy? I think most women do not. We were taught to hold it together “for the sake of the family” or “the success of the business” or “for the promotion of your partner,” etc., etc.
But what about you? I have learned the hard way that no one (not even those who you know love you) can mend your heart. They can help for sure. But the ultimate step for a cure lies within you. You. And only you. This lesson is a hard one to face and a hard one to do.
So….I am sitting on a balcony in Duck, N.C. feeling; feeling the first healing steps to patching my heart back together. Right now, I’m just gathering the broken pieces…step number one.
I guess step number 2 would be to handle the pieces with love and kindness and hold them in the sunshine and under azure skies and soft clouds with a healing salt air balm. Then wait. What a beautiful place to wait and heal.
Now, close your eyes, imagine your own healing place. Feel your own sun and taste your own sea salt and feel. Just. Feel.
